Bullet Review: The Tournament
Synopsis: Every seven years in an unsuspecting town, The Tournament takes place. A battle royale between 30 of the world’s deadliest assassins. The last man standing receiving the $10,000,000 cash prize and the title of Worlds No 1, which itself carries the legendary million dollar a bullet price tag.
Quick Review: Every so often a film comes along that you know is dumb, you know is stupid, but is just good fun to turn off your brain and watch without any thinking. Something that is just plain escapism. Shoot Em Up was one such film, The Tournament is another. This is very much a Battle Royale type film, infact it is clearly a Battle Royale remake but with enough changes not to be a rip off and set in Middlesbrough of all places. The Tournament is a high violence film, scene one makes that very clear as blood, guts and heads are exploding and spread everywhere. People are killed in a variaty of ways by the assassin players of the game and it seemingly is try to make the next kill bigger and better. Plot wise, well, its has one, just, very simple and is just there to string along the action as is the character ‘development’. The film though is solely about the action and just being daft fun. If you want to watch a film where you can totally switch off, give it a go.
Review: Fantastic Mr Fox
Stop motion animation from Wes Anderson, bringing Roald Dahls wonderful book fully to life.
Synopsis: It is the story of one Mr. Fox and his wild-ways of hen heckling, turkey taking and cider sipping, nocturnal, instinctive adventures. He has to put his wild days behind him and do what fathers do best: be responsible. He is too rebellious. He is too wild. He is going to try “just one more raid” on the three nastiest, meanest farmers that are Boggis, Bunce and Bean. It is a tale of crossing the line of family responsibilities and midnight adventure and the friendships and awakenings of this country life that is inhabited by Fantastic Mr. Fox and his friends.
